Mosquera adds, "With the death of the baby is also the end of the future of that child in their family." She continues, "The feelings of loss and sadness are very real and can have life altering effects." After her first miscarriage, Pometta was devastated. While going through the miscarriage, she had her friends and family by her side, however once it was over, her family and friends no longer were there in the way that Pometta needed them to be. She was left as Mosquera stated, alone to grieve in silence. "I have had 4 miscarriages and after the first one, the subsequent ones get less acknowledgement and after 10 years, I still mourn for them all as I would any other loss I have experienced."
